What to bring
Please remember to buy Mexican auto insurance. We recommend that you pack and bring drinking water and food.

The home has a full kitchen with refrigerator and freezer.
We recommend that you bring beach appropriate clothing, footwear and beach items like umbrellas and sand toys.

It would not be uncommon if you only wore your bathing suit when you are there. There is no need to overpack.

Bring your own personal towels and if you wish bring firewood for fires on the beach.

TV/DVD/VCR.
We have a DirecTV Satellite Dish setup as well as a DVD/VCR player in the main house. We can not guarentee DirecTV service. We usually bring down a few personal DVD players and DVDs so the kids can still watch a movie here or there. Mostly we are outside all day, eat dinner and go to bed.

Radio
CD/MP3 Players have been provided for use in the house.

Candles/Flashlights
We recommend you bring down you own personal flashlight and batteries. Late night walks along the beach go well with a flashlight. We request no candles be burned in the house for safety.

Smoking.
Please no smoking in the house.

Shrimp
Rocky Point is well known for its huge shrimp. Shrimp season is any month with an "R" in it.

Just drive to the Shrimp sales area downtown (about 15 minutes) and get as many as you want. We recommend that you bring your own cocktail sauce. They do not have horseradish.

Phones
There are no phones at the home. My T-Mobile works fine down there. You have to have T-Mobile turn on the service on on and it is $1.50 per minute. Sprint works well down there and is only 50 cents per minute. Check with you carrier.

Litter
Garabage should be brought out to the street and placed into the garage bins. A service will come by to pick up the garbage. Please remember to place the lids on top of the garbage cans.

Water that is used in the house for the faucets and for the showers is trucked in. It is clean water but we do not recommend drinking it.

Propane is used to keep the refrigerators cold and keep the hot water tank hot. It is also used for the stove and cook top. Upon arrival, you will need to make sure that the hot water tank is lit and that the freezer and refridgerator are cold. We will always have a service do this for you, but we recommend to doudle check it.

Solar panels are located on the roof and are used to recharge batteries that power all of the lights and outlets in the house. Please do not touch these.

Generator. If for some reason there is not enough power in the batteries to meet the demand of the house, a backup generator will automatically start and recharge the batteries and power the house. The generator is expensive to run and will only be required if you do not conserve. Please do not touch the generator.

Conservation is very important in Playa Encanto. Visitors must limit the amount of energy and water that they use. It is also important to try to not use items such as hair dryers that use lots of electricity.

Heat. There is no central heat. It is not normally needed. Some space heaters are available that run on propane.

A/C. The house does have an air conditioner but it requires a large amount of electricity to run. We will normally not rent the home during a season when A/C would be used.

Please do not turn on the air conditioner. We determined that it costs about $100 per day to run the generator for the A/C.

Fireworks are prohibited in this residential area. There are areas nearby

ATV use is not allowed on the beach in this area. ATVs are not allowed in the Estuary.

Boats and Jet Skis can be used in this area but there is no boat launch. Just 2 houses over you can drive onto the beach to unload your watercraft but I have never done that.

Money. Bring Cash in small denominations ($5, $10, $20). Most places do not accept credit cards. We have found most places accept US dollars. You should be aware of the exchange rate. Click Here for current exchange rate. Look for the amount where it says Mexican Peso. It should be about 10 pesos for each 1 US dollar. The higher the number the better.

If you go to a store and you buy a bunch of stuff and the total is 150 pesos, just divide that by the exchange rate to get the amount you should pay in US dollars. 150/10 = $15 US dollars
